The Great Swawou School Gift Wrap

We had a fun evening wrapping presents for the girls at the Swawou School in Sierra Leone. The amazing generosity of fellow LBRers at our recent fundraising events, including the Halloween bake off and quiz, meant we had a staggering budget. The presents are being sent out today, and should be with the girls before the end of term.

Each girl received:

  • a tote bag, personalised with their name on it (thank you to Alpa who did a beautiful job with this!)
  • a book of wordsearches
  • a notebook
  • a plain pencil case containing two fabric pens they can use to decorate it
  • a bamboo toothbrush
  • a make-your-own badge kit
  • a friendship bracelet kit and
  • a scrunchie

We also sent the school:

  • a set of Horrible Histories books
  • a set of Horrible Sciences books
  • 30 solar lights
  • a set of educational posters (world maps and the solar system)
  • a whopping 14 boxes of books donated by Dallington School (thank you to Alex Morrall for organising this incredible donation) and
  • a bag of presents generously donated by Monica Fuertes, containing stationery, toys and craft items

A massive thank you to everyone who donated, wrote a card, and/or gave up their evening yesterday to help us pack. It was a fantastic effort across the whole company. And a special huge thank you to Encompass for arranging the distribution.
