How are you today?
Many of us will answer ‘fine’, even when we’re not. A simple question that we ask to most people we meet everyday can be the key to starting an important conversation about mental health.
On 6th February 2020, we hosted a #TimetoTalk session at Law Business Research to support Time to Talk day led by Time to change. Time to Change is England’s biggest programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination and is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.
We were excited to take this chance to get involved with such an important initiative and encourage our employees to join us in our wonderful collaboration space to take some time out of their day to talk to their colleagues about how they’re feeling, about mental health more broadly, and how we can do to help support each other.
It was great to see so many faces taking the time to join in and have a chat with their colleagues on everything from whether you’d rather able to shapeshift or teleport, all the way through to what Mental Health means to them, and how we can all help to best support those in need. The day was a great way to facilitate discussion around wellbeing and encourage employees to make suggestions about we can do as a business to help best support our employees alongside our current initiatives.
We’ve also added posters and top tips cards around the office, giving ideas to everyone at LBR on how to start a conversation, alongside information on how to access our Employee Assistance Programme, and where you can turn if you need to talk about your mental health.
Don’t forgot to take some time to talk every day, and be sure to check out some of the brilliant resources time to talk has to offer to help start a conversation in your workplace.
